Chaosium Inc. have announced they’ve acquired the rights to create a new tabletop RPG. Set in Ben Aaronovitch’s world, Folly, the urban fantasy setting will combine Newtonian magic with a tweaked edition of Chaosium’s Basic Roleplaying system to help bring to life the gritty city streets and strange powers wielded by the rivers and other supernatural beings that inhabit the popular novels and comics.
It might seems like a match made in heaven for any steampunk enthusiasts who’ve read Aaronovitch’s work but the pairing apparently came as a result of a conversation at a book signing event between Ben himself and Lynne Harding, the associate producer behind the beloved Call of Cthulhu game.
“Ben was intrigued about the potential for a Rivers of London RPG when I broached the idea at a book signing late last year…”Lynne Hardy, associate producer
The author himself claims to be a D&D fan from way back in the day and has expressed excitement at having such an acclaimed team behind him. Chaosium is still assembling the creative team that will produce the game’s core rulebook and who will claim to be working closely with Aaronovitch on its development and presentation.
