Fantasy Flight Games has announced Adventure Mode, a new way to play The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-Earth. Essentially a new toned-down, story focussed difficulty rating, the new mode is accessible from the difficulty selection screen in the Journeys in Middle-earth companion app.
In Adventure Mode, threat is solely generated from heroes and threat tokens. Not only do unexplored tiles not add threat during the Shadow Phase, but each hero also gains an inspiration point at the beginning of every Shadow Phase, giving them a greater chance to overcome more challenges. Overall, the easier difficulty setting of Adventure Mode will allow players to explore every corner of Middle-earth and take on more quests throughout their campaigns.
Although the news wasn’t welcome for some players, who complained that the game was already easy enough, others have suggested it will make the game more palatable for inexperienced adventurers or those who’d rather focus on story-telling and roleplay.
